The last person to finish their treatment had come out and I put down the magazine I was holding and heard my name being called out. I entered the professional office, rinsed my mouth and sat in my assigned seat as instructed by the doctor. I simply nodded calmly as the dentist explained the procedure, mainly because this time I didn't have the cost at the forefront of my mind and didn't have to worry about paying a lot of money to let my tooth go peacefully. This was thanks to my insurance, which would cover a large portion of the cost of my tooth extraction. The dentist and I talked for a while about how insurance works, and they assured me that they would take care of filing the claim. I felt both nervous and relieved. Nervous because, well, who likes having their teeth pulled? Relaxed because I knew that financially, my wallet wouldn't have to suffer. Dental treatments are expensive, and routine cleanings and fillings can be costly not to mention the fact that I was having a tooth extracted, but with insurance, I could get the care I needed without spending a dime.
