Types of Dental Insurance Plans

There are three types of dental insurance: health maintenance organizations (HMOs), preferred providers (PPOs), and indemnity or fee-for-service plans.

HMO plans require you to go to a dentist they designate, so the premiums are relatively cheap.

PPO plans are more flexible. You can go to any dentist, but if you go to the one they recommend, you can save a lot of money.

Indemnity plans are the most flexible. You can go to any dentist you want, but the premiums and deductibles are higher. That's it. Pretty simple!
