Molar

Molars are located at the back end of the dental arch. These large, flat teeth feature a wide biting surface and multiple points that are specialized for grinding, crushing, and crushing food particles during chewing. Adults usually have a total of twelve molars, three in each quadrant of the mouth: the first molar, the second molar, and the third molar, often called wisdom teeth.

The primary function of molars is to facilitate the final stages of food processing and digestion, supplementing the cutting and tearing role of the front teeth (including incisors, canines, and premolars). Their broad, pointed form effectively grinds and crushes food particles, helping to break down ingested food into smaller, more digestible pieces. This chewing process is essential to extract nutrients from food and prepare it for further digestion in the gastrointestinal tract.
