Originally from the East Coast (small town outside Atlantic CitySouth Jersey), she received her undergraduate degree in the Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, worked for a year in network news at ABC News covering medical and health stories, before obtaining her Doctorate in Dental Medicine at Tufts University in Boston in 2002. Soon after, she relocated to Los Angeles with her husband, Jeff, who grew up in the San Fernando Valley and has a CPA practice.
